Abstract: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN DEVELOPED AND EMERGING MARKETS
This research conducts a comparative analysis of financial management practices in developed and emerging markets. Objectives include identifying key differences in financial practices, assessing the impact of market conditions on financial management, and evaluating the performance outcomes of different practices. A survey research design is employed to gather data from financial managers in both market types. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 400 firms was determined, with 200 from Lagos, Nigeria (emerging market), and 200 from a developed market. The reliability coefficient score of the survey instrument is 0.88. Findings reveal significant differences in financial management practices, with emerging markets exhibiting higher adaptability but also greater volatility. Recommendations include tailored financial management strategies that consider market-specific conditions and continuous learning from best practices across markets.
